Open in Termius
Your Finder folder. A new local terminal. One click.
Add a button to Finder’s toolbar and open the folder you’re working in directly in Termius, with a clean prompt ready to use.
From Finder to your shell
- Bring Termius to the front and open the selected folder in one new local terminal tab. Existing tabs are left untouched.
- Select a file to open its containing folder, or leave the selection empty to use the current Finder folder.
- Drop a file or folder onto the app as an alternative to the toolbar button.
- The terminal changes to the folder and clears the screen, leaving a clean prompt.
With no Finder window open, it uses your Desktop. If you select several items, it uses the first.
Download for macOS
Version 1.0.12 · Intel and Apple silicon
Requires the Termius desktop app installed in Applications, with File → New Local Terminal available. Tested with Termius 10.1.3 and its English menus. The Mac App Store edition may not offer local terminals.
App updates on macOS
Choose Check for Updates… from the terminal menu-bar icon. Leave Check for Updates Automatically enabled to be notified when a new version is available. You choose when to install.
Install and add the Finder button
- Extract the downloaded ZIP, open the DMG, and drag PlotLost Open in Termius to Applications. Replace the existing copy when updating.
- Open the app once and follow its built-in permission guide. Allow control of Finder and System Events when macOS asks.
- When prompted, choose Open Settings and enable the helper’s accessibility access. Return to the app and choose Check Again to finish setup.
- Hold ⌘ Command and drag the installed app into Finder’s toolbar.
Now select a folder or navigate to one and click the new toolbar button.
Why it needs permission
The helper asks Finder which folder you’re using, opens Termius’s New Local Terminal menu item, and enters the folder command. macOS requires app-control permission for those steps.
It briefly uses your clipboard to paste the command, then restores its previous contents. Leave Termius focused while the new tab opens. The command may flash briefly and can remain in shell history.
This helper opens a local shell on your Mac. It does not use your saved SSH connections.
Help and removal
“Not allowed assistive access” even though the switch is on?
Dismiss the alert, select the app in the permission list, and click −. Then add the installed copy from Applications again with + and enable its switch. This can be necessary after an app update.
Remove the toolbar button
Hold ⌘ Command, drag the icon out of Finder’s toolbar, and release. To uninstall the helper, move its app from Applications to the Trash.
Compatibility
Termius must have the English New Local Terminal menu available. Folder names containing line breaks are not supported. Changes to Termius’s interface may require an update to this helper.
