Windows Control
Manage your Windows PCs from macOS or Linux.
Reboot and shut down systems, manage signed-in users and processes, and save your computers and credentials in one desktop app.
Your Windows systems, together
- Save named systems and reusable credentials, with optional password storage in macOS Keychain or a supported Linux desktop keyring.
- Reboot, shut down, or log off users, with a configurable delay of up to 60 seconds.
- View sessions and processes, send messages, disconnect a user session, or terminate a selected process.
- Apply actions to several systems and inspect each result in the log.
- Import and export system configurations. Credentials stay on their original computer.
Designed for administering Windows 10/11 PCs you manage. An administrator account and network access to each target PC are required.
Download Windows Control 1.0.0
Free to download and use.
macOS · Apple Silicon
Requires macOS 27 or newer. Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple.
Linux · Debian / Ubuntu
Choose the package for your computer. Tested on Debian 13 with x64 and ARM64. Packages target Debian 12+ and Ubuntu 22.04+; Ubuntu has not been tested.
Install and connect
On your Mac
Open the DMG, drag PlotLost Windows Control to Applications, then eject the disk image. Allow Local Network access when prompted.
On Linux
Check your architecture with dpkg --print-architecture, then run the matching command from your Downloads folder:
# x64 (amd64)
sudo apt install ./PlotLost-Windows-Control-1.0.0-amd64.deb
# ARM64
sudo apt install ./PlotLost-Windows-Control-1.0.0-arm64.debOpen Windows Control from your applications menu. Required dependencies are installed by apt. Use a graphical desktop with an unlocked password keyring.
Prepare the Windows PC
Copy the included Setup-WindowsTarget.ps1 to the Windows PC and run it in PowerShell as Administrator:
.\Setup-WindowsTarget.ps1The script configures remote administration access, including Remote Registry and the local-account token policy, and records the previous settings. Use .\Setup-WindowsTarget.ps1 -Restore to restore them.
Add your systems
- Choose User to create a named Windows credential.
- Choose Add, enter the hostname or IP address, and select the credential.
- Select the system and choose Connect. Use Refresh to update the sessions and processes.
Disconnecting a user session leaves its applications running. Logoff, shutdown, and force-closing applications can discard unsaved work. Keep Windows Control open during a scheduled countdown.
Guides, updates and support
The guides and Windows setup script are also included in the installers. On Linux, find them in /usr/share/doc/plotlost-windows-control/.
Choose Check for Updates… from the PlotLost Windows Control menu. Automatic checks can be enabled or disabled there. On macOS, Sparkle verifies and installs signed updates. On Linux, signed update metadata and package checksums are verified before administrator authentication is requested to install the package. Disconnect and finish remote operations before updating. Existing installations without this menu need one manual installation of the current download to enable updates.
If a connection fails, check the target PC is online, reachable through its firewall, and that your account has administrator permissions. Use the app’s Log for details.
